Staff Utilization Rate in Consulting Firms
Staff Utilization Rate in Consulting Firms Staff Utilization Rate in Consulting Firms In proficient administrations firms that charge customers constantly, for example, the executives counseling, open bookkeeping, or law offices, the usage rate is a typical measurement for assessing the monetary commitment made by individuals from staff. It regularly is figured as the people actual billable hours divided by the quantity of standard work hours in the period being referred to, generally 40 hours out of every week. Hugeness for Careers Use rates, regardless of whether firms recognize it or not, frequently factor conspicuously into choices about remuneration and advancement of workers. The way of life of numerous organizations that utilization billable hours are frequently are set apart by usage as a typical subject of conversation among individuals from staff. Sometimes, it might be a wellspring of gloating rights for those detailing the most significant levels. Usage Rate Calculation The numerator of the usage rate is the real number of long stretches of work by the expert being referred to that was billed to customers in a given period. Charging periods can be seven days, a month, a schedule year, or a monetary year. The denominator regularly depends on the standard work schedule of 8 hours out of each day, five days out of each week (ordinarily Monday through Friday). Accordingly, the denominator will be 40 (5 days times 8 hours for each day) for a week after week calculation. For a month to month calculation, it most likely will mirror the real number of Monday through Friday weekdays in that month, which can be as high as 23. For a year, the denominator likely will be adjusted to 2,000 (reflecting 50 weeks at 40 hours out of every week). In like manner, a staff part who charges 60 hours to customers in a given week will have a usage pace of 150% (60 hours divided by 40 hours) for that week. Similarly, somebody whose billable hours were 2,500 for a schedule or monetary year would be considered to have a 125% use rate (2,500 hours separated by 2,000 hours) for that year. A usage pace of 150% or all the more regularly is taken as a sign of a top entertainer. Defects in the Utilization Metric Notwithstanding the hours charged out to customers, staff individuals in the board counseling, open accounting and other expert administrations firms definitely invest critical measures of energy in interior managerial undertakings that don't deliver income, at any rate not legitimately. For instance, the time spent on prospecting customers or creating pitches for potential commitment isn't reflected in the use insights. Accordingly, the undue weight given to usage rates in certain organizations can unjustifiably downgrade the work exertion contributed by various members of staff. Injustice Staff individuals at the least degrees of a counseling, bookkeeping, or other expert administrations firm typically have negligible tact in orchestrating and planning their work tasks. In this way, somebody who is tapped by ranking staff for a progression of non-billable regulatory errands throughout an assessment period will undoubtedly have a usage rate that misleadingly downplays their work exertion and commitment to the firm. Advancement In some firms, decisions about compensation and advancement (particularly in a firm with a forceful up or out approach) can be heavily weighted on usage measurements. Also, the interior administration revealing systems within the firm may not contain adequate detail on the exact nature and estimation of the non-billable hours and tasks that have involved the hour of staff individuals. In such a situation, those staff individuals with high extents of non-billable hours might be off guard comparative with their friends with higher usage rates during execution audits. It is particularly so if these surveys and choices about remuneration and advancement are conducted to a great extent by accomplices who might not have had a lot of individual contact with the staff individuals being referred to. Weights on Staff Proficient administrations firms, for example, (yet not restricted to) the board counseling and accounting firms, regularly will have formal, composed strategies (and will give occasional stern suggestions to staff, either verbally or in update form) about the absolute necessity for trustworthiness and respectability in rounding out timesheets and, therefore, in allotting billable hours to commitment and customers. Regardless, if accomplices or other senior managers signal that use is a key factor in pay and advancement (or if an inferred comprehension with this impact is a piece of the hierarchical culture), staff individuals will feel a not really unpretentious strain to cushion their billable hours.

Understudy individuals fill in as co-pioneers, presidents, treasurers, executives of pledge drives, and in other customary jobs. Prior in her EWB association, OBrien made a trip to a network outside Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic to help with a water circulation venture. Be that as it may, the little network of administration laborers taking into account the visitors who remain in close by lodgings was a to a great extent transitory bunchtraveling to their homes in Haiti or to different urban areas inside the Dominican Republic for a considerable length of time or stopping their employments out and out following various weeks or months to get back. Thus, the venture neglected to get the network bolster required, OBrien says. Virginia Tech currently has three ventures in Uganda, Nicaragua, and Guatemala. The last intends to improve the supportable wastewater the executives arrangement of CEFONMA, an all inclusive school situated in the Xix, El Quiche locale. The school currently discards squander by emptying it into pits burrowed around grounds and topped with solid when full. That strategy constrains the schools usable land and could sully close by water sources, says Helen Chen, a senior Virginia Tech structural designing major and head of advertising for the schools EWB section. Until the issue is fixed, the school cannot grow, a problem that needs to be addressed on the grounds that Guatemala doesnt offer tutoring past the 6th grade. Best Career Advice From the 2017 Commencement Speakers
Best Career Advice From the 2017 Commencement Speakers Best Career Advice From the 2017 Commencement Speakers Why One Company Prefers to Employ versus Agreement Field Professionals I must be straightforward - I didn't tune in to my school beginning location. Certainly, it's not uncommon for a 20-something to scatter, yet I genuinely think twice about it. I moved on from Stanford University in 2005 and my initiation speaker was Steve Jobs. Truth is stranger than fiction, I neglected to tune in to what in particular is presently alluded to as a standout amongst other graduation discourses, time . Doh ! I was hot, irritated in my polyester robe, and hung over from celebrating with an excessive number of Mike's Hard Lemonades the prior night (Sorry, Mom and Dad). Months after the fact I watched it on YouTube and was humiliated to the point that I hadn't focused while sitting in the arena on that hot June day. What's more, presently, I watch the location in any event once per year. Employments made statements that truly have stayed with me like, You need to trust in something; your gut, fate, life, karma, whatever, since accepting that the specks will associate not far off, will give you the certainty to follow your heart, in any event, when it drives you off the well- worn way. That will have a significant effect. Another of Jobs' gems? Your time is restricted, so don't squander it living another person's life. Try not to be caught by creed, which is experiencing the aftereffects of others' reasoning. Try not to let the commotion of other's sentiments overwhelm your own inward voice. Furthermore, generally significant, have the mental fortitude to follow your heart and instinct. They by one way or another definitely recognize what you really as of now need to turn into. Everything else is auxiliary. So effective, even now about 15 years after the fact. This roused me to observe a portion of the current year's striking speakers at graduations around the nation. Let these fill in as smaller than usual motivational speeches, the inspiration you have to endure a tough situation, or the superstar humor that will spike you to carry on with life to the fullest and command your profession. Regardless of how antique it might sound you will never genuinely be fruitful until you figure out how to give past yourself. Sympathy and generosity are the genuine indications of passionate insight, and that is the thing that Viv and I attempt to show our young men. To those of you graduates sitting out there who have a truly smart thought of what you'd prefer to do with your life, congrats. For huge numbers of you who perhaps don't have everything made sense of, it's alright. That is a similar seat that I sat in. Appreciate the procedure of your pursuit without surrendering to the weight of the outcome. Trust your gut, continue tossing darts at the dartboard. Try not to tune in to the pundits and you will make sense of it. Class of 2017, I simply need you to realize you will never be distant from everyone else on whatever way you may pick. On the off chance that you do have a second where you feel a little down simply think about the help you have from this incredible Trojan family and envision me, truly picture my face, singing this tune tenderly into your ear: If I should remain, I would just be in your direction. So I'll go, yet I know, I'll consider you at all times. What's more, I will consistently cherish you, will consistently adore you, will consistently adore you, Class of 2017. Also, I will consistently cherish you. I'm here to disclose to you finding your motivation isn't sufficient. The test for our age is making an existence where everybody has a feeling of direction. Intention is that feeling that we are a piece of an option that could be greater than ourselves, that we are required, that we have something better ahead to work for. Intention is the thing that makes genuine bliss. You're graduating when this is particularly significant. At the point when our folks graduated, reason dependably originated from your activity, your congregation, your locale. Be that as it may, today, innovation and robotization are killing numerous occupations. Participation in networks is declining. Numerous individuals feel separated and discouraged, and are attempting to fill a void. To keep our general public pushing ahead, we have a generational test - to make new openings, however make a reestablished feeling of direction. Be that as it may, it's insufficient to have direction yourself. You need to make a feeling of direction for other people. Presently it's our chance to do extraordinary things. I know, you're likely reasoning: I don't have the foggiest idea how to fabricate a dam, or get a million people associated with anything. However, let me reveal to you a mystery: nobody does when they start. Thoughts don't come out full grown. They just become clear as you deal with them. You simply need to begin. Try to tune in to your sense, get the open door when it introduces itself and afterward give it your everything. You will lurch and fall, you will encounter both catastrophe and triumph, in some cases around the same time, however it's extremely imperative to recollect that like an aftereffect, neither triumphs nor fiascos keep going forever. The two of them pass and another day shows up. Simply attempt to make the most of that new day. Disregard any individual who passes judgment on the manner in which you look, particularly in the event that the person in question is some mysterious killjoy sneaking on the Internet. Furthermore, on the off chance that you are that individual hiding on the Internet - STOP IT , simply stop it, head outside and DO something. Try not to fear dread. Those words take me back to my language structure school and our headmistress, Mother Mary Mildred, an old Nun - is there some other sort? - with one hanging eyelid and a lifetime lived behind the dividers of a community. She said those words to me the second I strolled into her group, a trembling multi year old going to enter secondary school. After sixty years and I will always remember those words or that educator. I think what she implied was, don't let dread standard you. Presently, mind you, now and again it's insightful to be apprehensive, similar to when you are going to bring a plunge into a pool with insufficient water in it. Or on the other hand drive a vehicle alcoholic. In minutes like those - be apprehensive, be apprehensive and totally don't do it. What's more, in the event that you need more data on this, kindly visit a paraplegic ward. Be that as it may, for the minutes when you are tested by different feelings of trepidation â" like Am I suff icient? Am I savvy enough? Will I come up short? â" toss alert to the breezes, look dread straight-away in its appalling face, and freight ship forward. What's more, when you move beyond it, pivot and give it a decent quick kick in the ass. Furthermore, say thanks to Mother Mary Mildred. Also, Helen's Rule No. 5 for an upbeat life? Don't overcomplicate things. You can explore every day just by following some extremely handy rules and regulations. Like don't put hot cups on waxed wooden surfaces. Truth be told, absolutely never wax wooden surfaces. Do say thank you when it is justified. Try not to tarry⦠particularly in saying thank you when it is justified. Try not to mistake sex for adoration. Love by and large keeps going longer than two minutes. Try not to jump into water on the off chance that you don't have a clue how profound it is. Furthermore, one more thing - don't stall. Continue pursuing those minutes where you find something new about your voice. Absolutely never let that end. Keep your psyches and hearts open to life's perpetual and unforeseeable prospects. Furthermore, recording in those 'you' subtleties, you likewise picked who might be a piece of those vignettes and stories in this part of your lives at Kent State. Kinships were crated here. Connections started. Connections finished. Guides came into your life, and these are the faces you will recollect when you glance back at your time here, faces you decided for this period of time. You went through consistently building up these associations, including layer after layer in a steady condition of compromise with individuals who mean such a great amount to you. You lived in nearer vicinity to your companions that the greater part of you ever will again. This reinforced you together in a unique manner. Be that as it may, my dear alumni, let me be plain, the greatest years are particularly in front of you. Furthermore, they can be anything you desire them to be. Your work, your life, your weekdays, your ends of the week, would all be able to be loaded up with as much significance as you direct. Yet, whatever section, whatever your next part is, characterize it by being consistent with your legitimate self. Fill it with importance. Since you're on the opposite side now, and possibly dread is beginning to sneak in, maybe forcefully - dread of the obscure. The excursion you take presently will be driven by only you. Let me state that once more. The excursion you take presently will be driven by only you. Try not to let that alarm you, gee golly, let that free you. Keep in mind, nobody came here a similar way, and you won't all make progress a similar way. But since all of you have molded your way to graduation in a manner that is exceptionally and certainly yours, I am quite sure that you will keep on doing that. Be that as it may, as you push ahead, if you don't mind if it's not too much trouble if it's not too much trouble goodness kindly, don't let yourself become involved with the snare of correlation. You hear what I'm saying. Overlook the senseless 30-Under-30 rundown that the web tosses at you before you've even had your morning mug of espresso. Those will be the worst thing about your reality post-graduation, trust me. Trust me. Contrasting yourself with other's prosperity just eases back you down from finding your own. Try not to fear your desire, you had always wanted, or even your resentment â" those are amazing powers. In any case, bridle them to have any kind of effect on the planet. Go to bat for truth and reason. Do it in private â" in discussions with your family, your companions, your work environment, your neighborhoods. What's more, do it in broad daylight in Medium posts, via web-based networking media, or snatch a sign and head to a dissent. Make shielding truth and a free society a basic belief of your life each and every day. Try not to let anybody disclose to you your voice doesn't make a difference. In the years to come, there will be trolls aplenty on the web and in person-anxious to disclose to you that you don't have anything advantageous to state or anything important to contribute. They may even consider you a Nasty Woman. Some may adopt a somewhat progressively modern strategy and state your world class instruction implies you ar

The official website of Movember generates countless hits throughout the month, while their Facebook account has over 38,000 likes in the U.S. alone. The official Movember Twitter account has nearly 25,000 followers, which is only expected to increase as we approach November. According to the SocialTimes, the campaign raised an unimpressive $43,000 in 2004 (pre-social media integration) and jumped to a staggering $80.7 million dollars by 2010. In 2011, Movembers official website reported a record-breaking figure of $124 million raised to help raise prostate cancer awareness. Extremely Lightweight Nanocardboard Is Stronger than Corrugate...
Very Lightweight Nanocardboard Is Stronger than Corrugate... Very Lightweight Nanocardboard Is Stronger than Corrugate... Very Lightweight Nanocardboard Is Stronger than Corrugated Cardboard Layered cardboard is a staple in the bundling business. It uses the standard sandwich structure: two strong sandwich boards isolated by a layer of lightweight webbing or cross section. This plan gives the ideal mix of low weight and high firmness. Sandwich-structure composite materials are basic over an assortment of enterprises, particularly for applications that require those qualities. In any case, obviously, industry is consistently search for lighter, more grounded materials. A group of specialists from the University of Pennsylvania has made another material called nanocardboard that is what could be compared to folded paper cardboard. Not exclusively is it amazingly light weight - one square centimeter weighs not exactly a thousandth of a gram) - it is an incredible warm protector and springs back to its unique shape subsequent to being twisted down the middle. The thought came to Igor Bargatin, an associate educator of mechanical building and applied mechanics at the University of Pennsylvania, while he was tuning in to an introduction on the mechanical properties of the shells of minute green growth called diatoms. A portion of these animals depend on a sandwich structure to advance hard external shells that accomplish high firmness while utilizing just a base measure of material (silicon oxide). During the discussion, it happened to me that we ought to have the option to make comparable structures utilizing smaller scale and nanofabrication apparatuses, Bargatin said. Detail of the basketweave webbing geometry. Picture: University of Pennsylvania His greatest test was finding a path at the nanoscale to connect the top and base sandwich layers to the inside center. At the macroscale, he proceeds, you can simply stick the face sheets and the cross section together, however at the nanoscale, the structures we work with are a great many occasions more slender than any layer of paste you can discover. For You: Is This the Most Wear-Resistant Material in the World? Bargatin collaborated with the universitys Singh Center for Nanotechnology to structure a strong silicon layout with channels running all through. The structure comprises of punctured sheets and cylinders interfacing the sheets that precisely coordinate the apertures. Aluminum oxide is then artificially stored into a ultra-slim nanometer layer over the silicon. Aluminum oxide is utilized in light of the fact that it is effortlessly kept utilizing nuclear layer testimony, making a conformal layer with a steady thickness and no holes. When the format is encased, the nanocardboard can be sliced to estimate. After the sides are uncovered, the silicon within is carved away. It leaves an empty shell of aluminum oxide with a system of cylinders interfacing the top and base appearances and a thickness of many microns. This geometry permitted us to make a nanoscale simple of the sandwich plate in a solitary testimony step, without utilizing any paste, to make the solid structure we named nanocardboard, says Bargatin. The groups recreations anticipated that indirectly dispersed roundabout channels experiencing the sheets would give ideal solidness. Notwithstanding, the outcomes were conflicting because of wrinkles that arbitrarily framed along the lines between the channels. The group in the end chose a bushel weave configuration, highlighting close-set, cut molded diverts organized in substituting bearings. With this container weave structure, potential wrinkles don't wander around the channels, which takes a great deal of vitality, Bargatin says. Therefore, wrinkles don't show up in the container weave structure by any stretch of the imagination. One of the most astonishing properties of nanocardboard is that it tends to be bowed strongly and afterward recuperate its shape, as though nothing occurred. In the event that you take a stab at doing this with layered paper cardboard, a wrinkle structures, which turns into a perpetual line of shortcoming, Bargatin said. This conduct doesn't have a point of reference in regular plainly visible sandwich plates on the grounds that the extraordinary shape recuperation is empowered by similar punctures that are important to make nanocardboard in any case, which are absent in traditional sandwich plates. Bargatins group keeps on investigating applications that could profit by the low weight and low warm conductivity of nanocardboard. We are taking a gander at microelectromechanical framework sensor applications, from new kinds of tests for nuclear power microscopy to thunderous gas sensors, which can profit by the low thickness of the nanocardboard structure, he said. Potential additionally exists as a warm encasing in thermionic vitality converters. Future work will likewise investigate a charming wonder: Shining light on a bit of nanocardboard permits it to suspend. Warmth from the light makes a temperature slope between the different sides of the plate, which pushes a current of air particles out through the base. Bargatin is at present investigating another drive system dependent on the photophoretic powers that cause the levitation. This could prompt new sorts of microflyers that work at both air pressure or at high elevations of more than 50 km, which is unreasonably high for conventional airplane like inflatables and planes. Be that as it may, it is too soon to talk about applications with any conviction until we can decide the major furthest reaches of how enormous these powers can be, he said. Imprint Crawford is a free author. For Further Discussion This conduct doesn't have a point of reference in commonplace plainly visible sandwich plates in light of the fact that the outrageous shape recuperation is empowered by similar punctures that are important to make nanocardboard in any case. How to Build a Better Habit Loop at Work CareerMetis.com
The most effective method to Build a Better Habit Loop at Work Building propensities isn't simple, yet they can make even the most monotonous undertaking simpler to hold up under â" particularly grinding away, where your day may be loaded up with redundant, dull, or ordinary exercises that could without much of a stretch be done by an aardvark with a console. How might you hack your mind to fabricate a superior propensity circle at work?Habits Start in the Basal GangliaevalBuilding propensities isn't just about rehashing a similar activity again and again until it turns out to be natural. What you're doing when you're assembling a propensity is reinventing your mind. At the point when you do another activity just because, the thinking part about your mind â" otherwise called the cerebral cortex â" actuates. Your cerebrum needs to make sense of the most ideal approach to explore new territory, and that requires dynamic thought.evalAs it turns into a propensity, your cerebral cortex begins to assume a lower priority in relation to another piece of the mind, known asthe basal ganglia.Scientists have watched this conduct in mice when they've been acquainted with another labyrinth. To start with, their cerebral cortexes are dynamic while they make sense of the labyrinth. As they keep on investigating a similar labyrinth, notwithstanding, the cerebral cortex assumes a lower priority and the basal ganglia go into overdrive. What you're doing when you're making propensities is effectively reinventing your mind to utilize your basal ganglia rather than your cerebral cortex. The main drawback of this is at one time a propensity â" fortunate or unfortunate â" advances into your basal ganglia, it's there for good. You can make all the more impressive great propensities to abrogate the awful ones â" like practicing at whatever point you get the inclination to illuminate a cigarette â" yet those negative behavior patterns will consistently be there, searching for the signs to trigger them. That is the place propensity circles come in.What Is the Habit Loop?Following a propensity circle encourages you manufacture new propensities, however what does the expression mean?A propensity circle alludes to the stages that help you to reconstruct your mind and transform an errand into something that you can do on autopilot. It'sbroken into four sections: the prompt, the hankering, the reaction, and the reward. The sign can be anything from the hour of day to your enthusiastic state. Unfortunate propensities will in general be activated by an individual's enthusiastic state â" going after a cigarette following an unpleasant day at work, or eating ineffectively when they're depressed.evalThe next stage is the hankering. What does that prompt make you need to do?Phase three is the reaction. Do you yield to the hankering and fortify an unfortunate propensity, or do an errand to construct a decent one? This leads into the prize. At the point when you check your telephone at your work area, for instance, the prize might be t he break from the dreariness of your workday. This sounds genuinely convoluted, yet it's something that we do unknowingly. Until you see the truth about the circle, you can't fabricate one that will serve you.Building a Habit Loop at WorkWhat undertakings do you do each day that could be taken care of by your basal ganglia? You probably won't have the option to react to messages on autopilot, however setting up your workstation, accepting your assignments for the afternoon and other unremarkable undertakings can be appointed away from your cerebral cortex.evalStart with a basic propensity, such as sorting out your workspace each morning. This doesn't simply get you in the correct outlook for work, it can really help keep your feelings of anxiety down. Incessant pressure brought about by complication can adversely affectyour physical, mental and enthusiastic healthand make it harder to lock in and get to the undertaking at hand.Break down that propensity into the four stages. First th e signal, which would be the start of your work move. Your hankering is for a spotless workspace, so you take a couple of moments to arrange everything. Your prize is likewise a spotless workspace, and the serotonin that your cerebrum discharges as an award for an occupation well done.If you do this each morning for half a month, you'll see that you don't need to consider it any longer. That implies that you're on autopilot and your basal ganglia have dominated. Congrats â" you've quite recently made your first propensity loop. Now you can take what you've realized and apply it to different parts of your workday and your life.Hacking Your Habit LoopOf course, we experience this propensity circle for negative behavior patterns just as great ones. That is the place hacking the propensity circle comes in â" and don't stress, you needn't bother with any programming experience for this kind of hack. The stunt returns to the four periods of the circle â" signal, longing for, reaction, re ward. To hack your circle, you needto change the reaction. Everything else, from the prompt to the hankering and the prize, remains the equivalent. Start little, even absurdly small. If you need to begin flossing each day, start by flossing one tooth. On the off chance that you need to quit eating shoddy nourishment when you're exhausted, change your reaction when you feel that appetite sign â" snack on grapes or other sweet natural product when you're desiring a chocolate bar.Hacking your propensities will take as long, or much more, than building new ones in light of the fact that those prompts and reactions have gotten so instilled in your psyche.evalHow Long Does It Take to Replace Negative Habits With Positive Ones? Now you realize how to supplant an old, negative propensity with a positive one utilizing the circle. What's more, you can have confidence realizing that in the long run, the neural pathways we no longer utilize will in general decay â" which means over the long hau l, naturally going after our solid propensity gets standard, and negative examples diminish.evalBut on the off chance that they don't vanish, to what extent will it take for things to get simpler? Will resolution consistently assume a job? To what extent does it take to change the cerebral cortex?Conventional astuteness instructed us it took somewhere in the range of 21 to 28 days to supplant an old propensity with another one. Be that as it may, ongoing examination demonstrates it might take much longer.A late investigation distributed in The European Journal of Social Psychologyindicates it takes 66 dayson normal to shape another propensity. Be that as it may, in the 96 people surveyed, the time changed from 18 to 235 days until the new standard stuck. In short, to what extent it takes for your new propensity circle to feel more regular may take less time than thought, or it could take substantially more. Your propensity circle is as one of a kind as your unique finger impression â " along these lines, rather than hopeless, commend your endeavors toward progress. All things considered, regardless of whether you start fabricating another propensity circle today or one week from now, the sooner you set out, the sooner you finish.Don't Give UpThe best guidance we can offer is this: don't surrender. Making new propensity circles and hacking old ones is difficult to do even on the best of days. It's not something that will occur without any forethought, however rolling out those improvements to your cerebrum's pathways can assist you with living a more joyful, more advantageous and increasingly sorted out life.evalStart little and work on those progressions first â" and remember to compensate yourself en route. On the off chance that you settle on a decent decision, you merit a treat.Creating a propensity circle may appear as though it's more difficulty than it's worth, yet regardless of anything else, we're completely up to speed in these loops. At least along th ese lines you can perceive what is setting off every one of your propensity activities, and make sense of how to proactively transform them instead of responding to them. While it might be difficult to oppose the drive to check your telephone or inbox all through your workday from the start, slow advancement can assist you with handling your ineffective habits.Learn to distinguish your signals and triggers and you may be shocked by how much better your work process becomes.

Surviving Layoffs When You Arent Laid-Off
Surviving Layoffs â" When You Arent Laid-Off I was supposed to write a book review of Word of Mouth Marketing, by Andy Sernovitz, but time is getting away from me. For those that are coming this afternoon at 4pm, you might want to check out this page to see how to get to the Miller center, and where to park and go when you get there. If you want to come today, more info is here. Scot Herrick is one of my favorite people. In fact, hes one of my heroes. Ill write more about that later, but let me share with you a very, very powerful bit of advice from Scot to those at his old company, the one that just laid off him and his wife (and thousands of others): The more difficult task at hand is for those still at [the company] having to put humpty dumpty back together again. There is the stress of doing that and wondering if the layoffs are finally over; knowing they are not. My advice is to continue to perform. As someone on this list once told me, job skills plus performance on the job equals opportunities. Others will always look at your skills and your performance, so keep on performing and adding to your skills even in the face of adversity. It will pay off in the long run. Scot is right on. No wonder, though, Scot is the creator of Cube Rules, one of the best career management blogs around. Hes been thinking, pondering and writing about this stuff long enough that when it was his time to get tagged (laid off), he was ready. Im sure there are still emotions involved, for him and his wife, but I know they will land on their feet.
